A well-loved 20-year-old man named Joey is the latest victim in the ongoing murder spree which is likely related to a street gang feud in Montreal.
Joey, whose last name is not yet known to Coolopolis (check in later for updates to this article) was a paintball enthusiast who was appreciated by many family and friends as evidenced on posts from his Facebook page.
He was shot dead at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday Dec. 26 at Louvain and 13th in St. Michel.
The murder was Montreal's 30th of 2015.
It was the sixth shooting this week and the second gun-related murder this week.
The conflict is believed to be related to a feud involving a gang known as the Blues, traditional rivals of the Red gang. Some reports suggest that a dispute within the Blues, possibly involving a gang that controls the Robert Housing Projects could have caused the death.
It's not known whether this young victim played a role in any gang activity.
Among his paintball and angelic suit-and-tie ceremony photos were strewn in a few other more menacing photos including one with a blue filter, as seen here.
Another photo taken last spring shows the outside of Bordeaux Prison, "Gotta make the family eat free my dad free all my homies." He writes.
A touching note from his father Eddy also features on his page.
"I pray for the day we can celebrate together and take a trip together somewhere hot," he wrote on the hand-written card.
Another friend posted a note today on the victim's site, explaining that the two were supposed to meet up last night. He expressed regret that the rendez vous - which could have averted the death - did not take place. .
"Love you man. You didn't deserve this nonsense. I could've prevented this. You should have just come to my house when you had to," he wrote.
"RIP buddy at one point in my life you were like a little brother to, my mom will take care of you up there," wrote another.
